This will be an all day event! We are planning on having vendors, food, activities for families and kids, everything! Events are listed as well as the weights for each one. This event is going to be outside of the Seminole Strength and Conditioning gym in our back parking lot. Parking and admission to the event are both free. Feel free to bring food, there will be food vendors selling food also. Pop-up tents, chairs, etc are allowed and encouraged but make sure you get there early if you want to set them up as spaces will fill. Weigh in's will be on Friday morning at Seminole Strength and Conditioning, LLC from 9am-12pm or by appointment thereafter. Photography: Gretta from MDJ Photography will be here taking photos of the competition for the lifters. If you're interested in getting a photography package from her, feel free to set it up ahead of time (recommended) at (850) 661-4751. We will also be sending out her information and package details to the competitors prior to the competition and you can also do it the day of the competition. "Photo of the lift or it didn't happen..." Hotel Information: Tallahassee has a wide variety of hotels, the closest ones will be right off of any of the 3 main exits off of I-10 (exit 196 is our exit, also exit 199 or 203). Seminole Strength is right off of exit 196 which has 1 or 2 hotels, but exit 199 and 203 have many more. If you need more information on them, please feel free to contact us. Food: Food near us: There are a few restaurants and we are working on getting a food vendor, however outside of that there is a Dunkin Donuts, Taco Bell, McDonalds, KFC, Zaxby's, Chinese Food, Walmart, etc. so quite a few options within a mile or so but there will be food trucks at the event. Event Descriptions NATURAL STONE CLEAN AND PRESS: Competitor will start standing behind a line a few feet away from stone. After the start, athlete will run to the stone and clean stone to shoulder and press overhead. Once arms are locked out, there will be a "Down" Command given. Athlete does NOT need to go to the ground with the stone but can press away, however stone must come back down to chest/shoulders. After each rep is completed, athlete must wait for a down command or the rep will not count. If needed, athlete can drop stone and re-clean it as many times as possible. Time limit is 1 minute for the event. Most completed reps done wins. Chalk, belt, etc allowed but no suits. FARMER'S WALK FOR DISTANCE: Competitor will begin at the back of our lot with farmers handles. Once "Begin" command is given, athlete will pick up farmers and start walking toward the front of our gym. The lot will be slightly uphill (not much) and grass, not concrete/asphalt. Distance is 100 yards. Winner will be determined by farthest distance traveled, if people finish the distance, it will be based on fastest time completed. There are NO DROPS. Once dropped after crossing starting line, that is the distance. Chalk is allowed, no straps, suits, etc. There is no time limit. STONE CARRY MEDLEY: Competitor will begin by picking up the 1st of 5 stones. Stone is to be carried approximately 20 ft and dropped on the other side of a line. Athlete will then run back to the next stone, pick it up, and carry it the same way to the other line. Stones will progress from lightest to heaviest. Fastest person to finish all 5 stones will win. Placings thereafter will be determined by the next fastest to finish, and then by completed stone times, so fastest to finish 4 stones, etc. Tacky is NOT allowed, tacky shirts and chalk are. KEG/SANDBAG TOSS MEDLEY: Competitor will begin a few feet away from the first keg. Keg can be moved but must be thrown over a crossbar approximately 12-16ft high (height and weight based on classes). If the keg or sandbag does not go over, it must be retrieved by the lifter, moved back to throwing position and re-attempted. Once cleared, athlete will move onto the next object. Fastest time to complete all objects wins, placings will be determined by next fastest to complete and then fastest of 4 objects, then fastest of 3 objects, etc. HAND OVER HAND TRUCK PULL: Competitor will be pulling a rope attached to a truck in a seated position with feet up against a platform. There will be someone helping pull excess rope out of the way to keep the pull seamless. Fastest time for truck to get across finish line wins. Chalk allowed as well as sleeves, etc, no suits. (Distance and rope size to be announced soon...)
