About

Welcome to the official Tupps Texas Strength Games!!!  This is a World Strength Games qualifier, and will automatically qualify each first place finisher for the WSG games in St. George Utah this May!  The WSG is a global competition put on with Russell Anderson, Travis Ortmayer and Magnus Ver Magnusson.  Let’s go show the world that Texas is dominating the strength world!   Comp day is November 21st at Tupps Brewery in McKinney TX.  The rules meeting will be at 8am, and the cop will begin at 9am sharp!   Weigh-ins will be Friday November 20th from 3pm to 8pm.  If you have an extenuating circumstance and cannot make weigh in, please email me and I will do my best to accommodate you.  "I don't want to drive to McKinney twice" is not a valid reason to miss the Friday weigh in :) haha.   ATTENTION NOVICE ATHLETES:   WSG does not have a novice category, so you will in fairness not be qualifying for anything.  You will however get to compete in an awesome comp, at an amazing venue.  You will gain invaluable experience in your strongman journey and get some kick butt swag! Events:  these will be further covered during the rules meeting, but here is a slightly sarcastic run down:   Event 1:  Yoke Walk          Pick the yoke up on your shoulders, walk until you cross the line.  Simple.  You can wear neoprene shorts, grip shirt, chalk, knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, wrist wraps, hard and/or soft belt.  You cannot wear a suit...idk why you would it wouldn't help...you know what maybe I should let you just to watch you try and waddle around with hundreds of pound on your back...no, no, you'd just hurt yourself.  No suits.   Event 2: Max Log Press            You will pick the weight you want to start with and then clean and press it overhead, wait for the down signal.  DONT slam the log down, strongman equipment is expensive, so don't break my stuff.   You have two attempts to get your max weight.  IF you fail your first lift, you can try that weight again, but may not go up...cause duh.   Event 3: Conan's Wheel            Pick the bar and start walking.  You may drop the wheel once, but if you drop it again, that is your distance.  Wear whatever you want,  no tacky...again, why would you... You have 60 seconds to travel as far as possible.   Event 4:  Deadlift for reps             You will have 60 seconds to rep out as many reps as you can...wait for the down command and the up command, we aren't touch and going, this isn't CrossFit.  No suits.  Other than that I don't care.  I mean no tacky...but who in the world would think that was acceptable...actually we all probably know that one guy... Event 5:  Tupps Keg over Bar              There will  be three kegs in increasing weight.  You will pick the first keg which will be 8 feet from the yoke, carry it and put over the bar (48in for women, 56in for men), then go get the 2nd keg, then the 3rd.  Fastest time wins here.  Wear the normal stuff.  I don't know how you could not understand what to do here...but if you have more questions let me know...I cant help you understand but I'd like to make a note to keep an eye out for you so you don't hurt yourself.   Baylor Scott and White will have a few tables set up for the event for athletes to get some much needed work done, so be sure to swing by if you are hurting!   We will have gift bags for all competitors and podium finishers will receive a really cool trophy, and maybe another surprise for our first place finishers.   This is a qualifier for WSG, and  I have had  few people reach out saying they want to compete but don’t think they can make WSG this year…that’s okay!  Come compete, let us sort all that out!  Let’s just have the best comp in North Texas!
